Cooper students win big at Minnesota DECA conference

David Necas and Jack Rybarczyk are invited to travel to Anaheim, California to compete with 18,000 top students from around the world at the International Career Development Conference – the pinnacle of DECA competition. Jael Kerandi, Ellie Gentry, Jenny Gray, Sophie Pletcher, and Skylar Smiley will also be traveling to Anaheim to participate in the Thrive Conference after winning their spots for community service efforts and promotional activities they did throughout the year.

Important Information on Law Requiring MCA Scores Be Used for Course Placement

Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments scores will soon be used in determining course placement at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. A student’s MCA score could potentially save them significant money by demonstrating that they do not need to take non-credit bearing developmental courses.

Kendall Thiede and Ellee Petersen named Athena Award winners for Cooper, Armstrong high schools

Cooper High School senior Kendall Thiede and Armstrong High School senior Ellee Petersen have won Athena Awards. The awards go to outstanding senior female athletes from each of 50 metropolitan area high schools. Students were nominated by their coaches as outstanding senior female student athletes. They are selected based on excellence in an individual sport or for participation and accomplishment in group sports.

These were typical questions heard on Wednesday, March 1, at the Robbinsdale Highview Alternative Program College Fair held at Sandburg Learning Center. Instructors Dawn Kalina and Linda Valentine, co-teachers of the Computer Integrated Career Planning class, planned and coordinated the event.
