Robbinsdale Area Schools teachers Colleen Crossley, Melissa Davey and Patricia Peuschold are three of the nominees for the 2018 Minnesota Teacher of the Year award! The 2018 Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be announced May 6 at the Radisson Blu Mall of America in Bloomington. Over the coming weeks, a 25-member panel of community leaders will name a group of semifinalists and finalists.

Armstrong High School seniors Josie Welsh and Jehdessa Borreson recently won Gold Key awards in the Scholastic Arts award competition. Josie's ceramic pitcher and Jehdessa's found object sculpture, which are under consideration for a national award, will be physically displayed in the Regis Center for The Arts West Gallery at the University of Minnesota from January 30 to February 17.

Cooper High School students junior Sophia Nguyen and senior Katie Amundson recently won Gold and Silver Key awards in the Scholastic Arts award competition. Sophia's painting, which is under consideration for a national award, will be physically displayed in the Regis Center for The Arts West Gallery at the University of Minnesota from January 30-February 17, and Katie's photograph will be on a monitor at the gallery.

Kindergarten Information Nights Are On February 8!

Cooper High School junior finds success on the stage

Cooper High School junior Trevor Hendrix has a big role in Stages Theater’s current production of “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” Hendrix, who says he grew up in “a very musically involved family,” first caught the acting bug after auditioning for a community theater musical in third grade. Since then, he has acted in five Stages Theater productions, in addition to taking the stage in productions at Robbinsdale Middle School and Cooper High School.

Mekhi Besseck received $1,000 in scholarship funds, $1,000 to donate to the charity of his choice, and 2 tickets to the December 17 home game against the Bengals, where he was recognized during the game. Former Vikings player EJ Henderson presented Besseck with a custom football during a ceremony December 13 at Armstrong.

Student artwork to be displayed at Robbin Gallery

The Armstrong Marching Band earned the Grand Champion trophy in class AA for its performance at the Anoka Halloween Parade on Saturday, Oct. 28. The judges also awarded the trophy for Best Winds choosing the band with the best musical sound during the competition.
