AHS Musical

DIRECTOR'S NOTE: So, full disclosure...this musical is a spoof of musicals.  I suppose one could argue that most musicals are a spoof of life.  We rarely burst into song at happy or tragic events (although we might all feel better if we did).  And all of life’s loose ends rarely become neatly tied up in a nice 2-2.5 hour period of time.  Some questions never get answered.  Many times our disappointments don’t occur to provide us with teachable moments or prevent us from making a mistake, tragic or minor.  What musicals and theatre do, to a large extent, is provide us an escape from our daily lives.  The Boy Friend just pushes the bounds of believability a little farther.  People rarely meet, fall in love, and get engaged in one day.  (Kudos to you if that’s your story and it all worked out for you.)  What The Boy Friend does provide you with are some snappy tunes, fun dance numbers, and an incredible amount of talent, both onstage and off.  It also provides a bit of an escape from the world, which I’m guessing many of us need right now.  On with the show!--Jenny
