Spanish Immersion Program

The Robbinsdale Area Schools One-Way Spanish Immersion Program is one of the oldest language immersion programs in the state of Minnesota.

 

Spanish Immersion elementary students attend Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion with one-way 90/10 immersion program in which students are immersed the majority of their day in Spanish. In middle school, students are offered three classes each year in Spanish: Science, Social Studies and Spanish Language Arts. In high school, students are offered a rigorous sequence of language and literature courses.



PROGRAM PATHWAY

ELMENTARY (K-5)

Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion 

  • 90:10 Program
  • Students receive 90% of their day in K-1 in Spanish
  • Students progressively receive more instruction in English beginning in grade 2

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL (6-8)

Plymouth MiddleSchool

  • 3 courses per day in Spanish at each grade level
  • Spanish Language Arts
  • Social Studies
  • Science

 

HIGH SCHOOL (9-12)

Armstrong HighSchool

  • 1 course per day in Spanish at each grade level
  • Advanced Spanish Language and Culture: Immersion 9
  • Advanced Spanish Language and Culture: Immersion 10 (Students Take AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam)
  • Advanced Spanish Language and Literature: Immersion 11
  • Advanced Spanish Language and Literature: Immersion 12 (Students Take AP Spanish Language and Literature Exam

Cooper High School

  • 1 course per day in Spanish at each grade level
  • International Baccalaureate Immersion 9
  • International Baccalaureate Immersion 10
  • International  Baccalaureate Immersion 11 (Students take IB Spanish Standard Level Exam)
  • International  Baccalaureate Immersion 12 (Students take IB Spanish Higher Level Exam)


Upon Graduation Students can qualify for one of the Minnesota Seals of Biliteracy
