2019 MN Teacher of the Year Nominations

Two Robbinsdale Teachers Nominated for 2019 MN Teacher of the Year

Rdale LogoRobbinsdale Area School (RAS) District is pleased to announce two of our teachers have been nominated for the 2019 Minnesota Teacher of the Year award. Congratulations to Colleen Crossley and Wilbur Winkelman!

"We are excited to recognize Ms. Crossley and Mr. Winkelman for their nominations," said RAS Superintendent, Dr. Carlton D. Jenkins. "We have outstanding educators in our district who are focused on
academic excellence for all," he said.

Ms. Crossley is a teacher in the Adult Academic Program based out of the Crystal Learning Center. Mr. Winkelman is a 5th grade teacher at Lakeview Elementary in Robbinsdale; he was also the 2018 Robbinsdale School District Teacher of the Year.

"It is wonderful to have two amazing teachers from Robbinsdale represent us in this year's selection process for Minnesota Teacher of the Year! This is well deserved recognition of hard working, dedicated and innovative teaching by them both," said Peter Eckhoff, President of the Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers.

According to Education Minnesota, this year marks the 55th Minnesota Teacher of the Year award, with 168 candidates ranging from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade and Adult Education. "The 2019 Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be announced Sunday, May 5, at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. Over the coming weeks, a 25-member panel of community leaders will name a group of semifinalists and finalists," stated Education Minnesota in a release.
