Video scoreboard ribbon cutting ceremonyCooper High School helped light up the night sky on Friday, September 13 with an official ribbon cutting ceremony for its new video scoreboard just prior to the football game. School board members, district and school staff, and City of New Hope officials took part in the event.

The digital screen has the capability to show short videos, graphics and commercials. Besides use at school sporting events, the electronic scoreboard could also serve as video monitors during Spring graduation ceremonies and other school-only events.

The old scoreboard was near end-of-life status and had bulbs which were unable to be replaced. According to Cooper's Athletic Director, John Oelfke, the new electronic scoreboard will allow teams to show starting line-ups, instant replays, highlights and fan interactions. Staff plan to work with Cooper's graphic design students to help create some of this content. The athletic department will continue to support community sponsors with short promotional videos which can be shown on the scoreboard.
