Principal's Welcome

Dear Armstrong students, families, and future Falcons!

My name is Erick Norby, and welcome to Armstrong High School – home of the Falcons! We are thrilled to join our Armstrong community. This school is a special place where students challenge themselves academically, support one another, and take pride in making our school a welcoming place for everyone. We have so much to celebrate, and I'd like to share a few of the many "A's" that make Armstrong exceptional.

Academics

Academic excellence is at the heart of everything we do. Armstrong offers a wide variety of rigorous courses and engaging electives designed to challenge every learner. Students also have access to outstanding academic supports and enrichment opportunities, including ACT preparation, College Possible, and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID). AVID prepares students—especially those who will be the first in their family to attend college—to succeed in rigorous coursework and pursue higher education. At Armstrong, every student has opportunities to grow, achieve, and personalize their learning experience.

Advanced Placement (AP)

Armstrong is proud to offer one of the largest Advanced Placement (AP) programs in the state of Minnesota. Students can enroll in college-level courses across English, social studies, science, mathematics, world languages, art, and music. AP courses provide an excellent opportunity to earn college credit while building the skills and confidence needed for future success.

Arts 

The arts are a cornerstone of the Armstrong experience. Whether through drama, choir, band, orchestra, visual arts, creative writing, or other artistic opportunities, students are encouraged to explore their talents, express themselves creatively, and develop lifelong passions.

Activities

Learning extends well beyond the classroom. Armstrong offers more than 75 school-sponsored teams, clubs, fine arts programs, and athletic opportunities, ensuring there is something for everyone. Our Falcons compete in the Northwest Suburban Conference and participate in activities such as theater productions, marching and jazz band, orchestra, yearbook, newspaper, speech, debate, math team, National Honor Society, Cultural Leadership Council, world language clubs, trap shooting, cycle club, and many more. Getting involved is one of the best ways to build friendships, develop leadership skills, and create lasting memories.

AMPLIFY YOUR VOICE, IGNITE YOUR PASSION

Armstrong is bigger than many small towns, and it feels like a community – with a place for every young person, regardless of aptitudes or interests.

Our students find dozens of opportunities in academics, the arts, and athletics. Armstrong offers one of the largest Advanced Placement (AP) programs in Minnesota.

Students who take AP courses and pass the exams can earn college credit in English, social studies, science, math, global language, art and music.

The arts are important to our school, as reflected in our many vocal and instrumental ensembles, visual art classes, dance and step clubs, and two major theatrical productions each year.

With more than 75 school-sponsored clubs and activities, students are bound to find ways to engage. From anime to opera, from math to media to robotics, through involvement students can spend quality time with like minds. And fans of hands-on learning will appreciate our auto shop.

Creating a greener environment is of keen interest to Armstrong students, and our Environmental Club is active in projects beautifying our campus and making our campus more energy efficient.

Every ninth grader has an advisor whose job is to provide mentoring, help build community with other students, and assist with acclimation at this critical transition time. This relationship becomes a keystone for success throughout high school.
