Armstrong grad Maren Faust earns National Merit college-sponsored scholarship

Armstrong High School (AHS) senior Maren Faust has been named a recipient of a college-sponsored scholarship by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

Faust, who plans to pursue a career in astrophysics, was awarded the National Merit Grinnell College Scholarship. She is one of more than 2,900 students selected by sponsor colleges and universities nationwide to receive these awards, which provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.

Grinnell College selected Faust from among National Merit Finalists planning to attend the school. Known for its rigorous liberal arts curriculum and emphasis on academic independence, Grinnell is one of 146 institutions participating in this year’s college-sponsored program.

Faust joins a distinguished group of more than 6,900 high school seniors nationwide who have received National Merit Scholarships in 2025, collectively earning nearly $26 million in scholarship support.

A final group of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship recipients will be announced in July.
