Board to hear public comment regarding operating levy renewal June 17

The Robbinsdale Area Schools Board of Education is inviting staff, families and community members to provide public comment regarding the renewal of the 2014 operating referendum at its June 17 business meeting.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 17, in the board chambers at the Education Service Center (ESC), located at 4148 Winnetka Ave. N., in New Hope. Public comment regarding the operating levy renewal will begin at 7:15 p.m. All people who wish to provide comments will be allotted three minutes to speak publicly.

The voter-approved 2014 operating levy, which is set to expire next year, will generate approximately $24.8 million annually for Robbinsdale Area Schools to provide educational services to students. The state of Minnesota allows school districts to automatically renew previous operating referendums, which the Board of Education intends to do. The renewal of the operating levy is not a new tax, but a continuation of taxes already collected.

Thank you for your support of Robbinsdale Area Schools.
