Important Update: 36th Avenue construction and access to Armstrong High School

Important Update: 36th Avenue construction and access to Armstrong High School

Significant road construction on 36th Avenue is set to begin in mid-April, impacting access to Armstrong High School (AHS) and, later this summer, Plymouth Middle School and FAIR School Pilgrim Lane.

What’s happening?

The city of Plymouth is rebuilding 36th Avenue between Kilmer Lane and Zachary Lane. This includes resurfacing the road, improving traffic flow, and adding pedestrian safety features.

How does this affect AHS?

Starting mid-April, the main entrance off 36th Avenue west of AHS will be closed to public traffic.

How to access Armstrong:

  • Families dropping off students must use the east entrance between Union Terrace Lane and Trenton Lane (not the St. George Coptic Orthodox Church parking lot). The west main entry) will be closed.
  • Buses and staff will access the school via Zachary Lane.
  • During the second phase (starting mid-June), the west entrance will open, and the east entrance will close.

How does this affect Plymouth Middle School and FAIR Pilgrim Lane?

Most work near Plymouth Middle School will begin in mid-June, after school is out for the summer. This will impact access to Pilgrim Lane from 36th Avenue during the summer months, and will require families visiting FAIR Pilgrim Lane to approach the school from the north.

We encourage families to plan ahead and allow extra time for drop-off and pick-up during this time.
