Robbinsdale Area Schools Welcomes New Activities/Athletic Director For Robbinsdale Armstrong High School

Larry Tate has been selected as the new Activities/Athletic Director for Armstrong High School. Mr. Tate has been an employee with Robbinsdale Area Schools for more than 15 years. He has been part of Armstrong’s Boys & Girls Basketball and Football programs for more than 15 years, and has also served the youth sports community in baseball, basketball and football within the district. He will begin his new role effective Tuesday, August 18, 2020. 

“I am excited about this new opportunity,” Mr. Tate said. “I am very passionate about the life lessons and skills that students acquire from participating in activities/athletics. I look forward to continuing strong traditions and implementing innovative ideas that provide positive results for our activities and athletics programs within our district,” he continued. 

Mr. Tate is currently completing his Principal Licensure and Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Minnesota State Mankato, and has been a resident in the district since 1999. Mr. Tate and his wife, Stephanie, have three children: Tre, a 2015 Armstrong graduate, Lateah, a 2016 Armstrong graduate, and Tyson who will be attending Plymouth Middle School in the fall.  

Mr. Tate previously served as the Activities/Athletic Director at Maranatha Christian Academy from 2017-2019. His previous roles at Robbinsdale Area Schools include Equity Specialist, Personal Learning Coach and Behavioral Specialist.

“Mr. Tate’s experience and dedication in working with students and families continues to be invaluable to our district,” said Kristine Wehrkamp, Ph.D., Executive Director of Community Education. “We are excited for him to move into this new role,” she continued.
