Dear Robbinsdale Area Schools Secondary Families,

Earlier today Gov. Walz announced updates to Minnesota’s Safe Learning Plan, specifically as it relates to students in middle and high schools.

According to the Governor’s announcement, school districts are no longer required to have rolling start dates and can instead bring students back at the same time to buildings - in either hybrid or full in-person learning - beginning Feb. 22 or later. School districts must still practice safety protocols, including additional mitigation strategies which our District already has in place.

On Feb. 3, we shared our plans to transition secondary students to hybrid learning, and the Safe Learning Plan reinforces that process.

Below you will find information that is specific to middle school students and high school students.

Middle School

We will continue with our current plan to transition our students to hybrid learning, at 50 percent capacity, on the following dates:

  • Monday, March 1: Grade 6 (and FAIR School Crystal Grade 5)
  • Monday, March 15: Grades 7 and 8

High School

As previously announced, 9th grade students will return for orientation on March 25, with all grades moving to hybrid learning on Tuesday, April 6. Based on today’s updates, high school administrators will evaluate with their staff what (if any) changes there are to the current transition plan.

Next week, the high school administrators will share their feedback with the District’s Incident Command Team -- which is a part of the internal process we’ve followed during the past year.  After that meeting, we will notify families to let you know if the plan will remain the same or if there will be adjustments.

Virtual Information Session for Secondary Families Tomorrow, Feb. 18

Secondary families are invited to attend an information session from 6 to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 18). Parents/guardians can provide feedback as well as learn more about procedures and instructional models as we’ve been preparing to bring secondary students back into our schools. Please email Debbie_Fitzsimmons@rdale.org if you would like to attend.

Thank you for your patience and support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Stephanie Burrage
Interim Superintendent
