Update: Secondary Schools to Begin Hosting Vaccine Clinics This Week

Dear Families of RAS Secondary Students,

Robbinsdale Area Schools is pleased to announce a partnership with Community Care Clinics of Minnesota. This partnership will allow the District to begin hosting mini-vaccination clinics at each district middle and high school starting this week. 

At these clinics, district students 12-years-of-age and older will be eligible to receive their first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. Students must have a completed parent consent form. The second dose will be administered at a second vaccine clinic at Robbinsdale Middle School (RMS) later in June.

The mini-clinics will be held during school with minimum disruption to learning. Students who have a completed parent consent form will be escorted by class to receive their vaccine, wait for observation during a mandatory 15-minute period after receiving it, and then return to class to resume their school day. Schools will provide building-specific details with a follow-up message in the next day or two.

• Site three: Crystal Learning Center

Thursday, June 3, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

• Site one: FAIR School Crystal
• Site two: Robbinsdale Middle School

What’s required?

• Parents/guardians must sign the parent consent form (available in English, Spanish and Somali), and students should bring the signed copy with them on their vaccination day. Students who are 18-years-of-age or older do not need parental consent to be vaccinated but need to sign a consent form themselves. 
• Parents/guardians can also email completed consent forms. Schools will provide building-specific details with a follow-up message in the next day or two, including where to email the form.
• Vaccines will NOT be given to students who do not have a signed consent form.
• Students MUST be at least 12-years-old on the day of their vaccination.

Second dose
A second round of vaccine clinics will be held at RMS later in June so students who receive their first doses during these mini-vaccine clinics can get the second dose three weeks following their first. We will provide details about these dates and times once they’re confirmed.

Important to know

• The clinics will provide the Pfizer vaccine only, which has been approved for people who are 12-years-of-age or older.
• COVID-19 vaccination is free and does not require insurance.
• People with a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to any vaccine or injectable (intramuscular or intravenous) medication OR any component of the COVID-19 vaccine should consult with their health provider to assess risk prior to receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Everyone else with severe allergic reactions to foods, oral medications, latex, pets, insects, and environmental triggers may get vaccinated.
• Students should not attend a vaccination clinic if:
  • They have had COVID-19 within the past 14 days.
  • They have any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • They are currently in quarantine due to close contact exposure.
